Our Team
Safer Lives was established in 2014 with a mission to support people under investigation for online sexual offences to make changes, from the point of their first police contact. We have built a pioneering agency dedicated to offering crisis guidance and managing risks for both the individuals involved and the wider community. Our carefully selected team consists of experienced probation officers and other professionals renowned for their specialist knowledge, skills, and compassionate, approachable manner.

Founder & Co-Director
Andy Green
Andy had 19 years’ experience as a widely respected probation officer, having worked in community and prison teams, and having previously worked as a prison teacher. He was a regional trainer in working effectively with life sentenced prisoners and a specialist in the re-integration and resettlement of those who had committed serious sexual offences. He was also highly respected and experienced as an assessor and report writer for the Courts and Parole Board. Trained in numerous risk assessment tools (OASys, RM2000, ARMS and SARA, RSVP v2), Andy holds a Diploma in Probation Studies and Post-graduate Certificate in Education for Adults. Andy is passionate about giving people the opportunity and help to make changes.

Founder & Co-Director
Jenny Greensmith
Jenny is a specialist in the treatment of harmful sexual behaviours. She worked as a probation officer for nine years with a specialism in sexual offences. Jenny went on to become the Treatment Coordinator for the Probation Sex Offender Treatment Programmes across West Yorkshire. In 2013, Jenny moved to the Youth Offending Service and was the specialist in working with young people with harmful sexual behaviours. She has consistently worked as a trainer and consultant to staff and other agencies who support these individuals and their families. Jenny is experienced and trained to carry out assessments using a range of assessment tools, including Risk of Sexual Violence Protocol (RSVP v2), Assessment Intervention and Moving On (AIM) and AIM2 assessments, which she does for a number of local authorities.

Senior Practitioner
Steve Davies
Prior to joining the Safer Lives team in 2021, Steve worked for The Lucy Faithfull Foundation for 18 years. His extensive 25-year career includes five years as a probation officer. During his career he has provided training on working with men who commit sexual offences, to various agencies. Training attendees have included probation officers, social workers, psychologists and police officers. Steve is a qualified social worker and accredited Brain Working Recursive Therapy Practitioner. He is also a co-author of the NOTA publication, Working with Sex Offenders, A Practitioners Guide, Routledge 2017.

Practitioner
Jayne Coppinger
Jayne joined Safer Lives in July 2021. With 16 years’ experience as a probation officer and an additional 10 years in the care sector, Jayne has built her career on her drive to support people. During her time as a probation officer, Jayne has mainly worked with high-risk offenders. She also worked in the court team and attended child protection conferences and parole boards. Supporting our clients to make positive life changes and maintain successful outcomes, is her priority. Jayne’s caring, person-centred approach, has been praised by many of our clients.

Practitioner
Graham Hanson
Graham joined the Safer Lives team in March 2022. He came to us from the Probation Service, where he first started in 2007. Qualifying as a probation officer in 2009, Graham has a wealth of experience in both the assessment and management of people convicted of a range of offences, including serious sexual and violent offences. During his time at the Probation Service, Graham helped to develop a pioneering peer group, enabling people that were subject to statutory probation supervision to share their experiences with other men and women going through the criminal justice system. He was also involved in the establishment of a victim-lead forum to directly support the victims of crime. Graham holds local youth worker certification and has experience working with young people. He was seconded to Leeds Youth Offending Service between 2013-2016 where he worked in the assessment and management of young people under 18, including those convicted of sexual offences.

Practitioner
Laura Skidmore
Laura joined Safer Lives in March 2025, bringing with her experience in probation and youth offending services. She qualified as a Probation Officer in 2006 and has dedicated much of her career to working with high-risk offenders in both community and prison settings. Her expertise includes managing individuals who have committed a variety of offences, including violent and sexual crimes, as well as conducting risk assessments and preparing reports for Magistrates and Crown Court. In 2008, Laura joined Leeds Youth Offending Service, where she managed young offenders, some of whom had committed sexual offences. Laura then went on to work at Leeds Magistrates and Crown Court , where she completed assessments on young people and presented these findings to Magistrates and Judges. Laura later became a Practice Manager for the Youth Offending Team in Leeds, where she supervised probation officers and social workers, proofreading reports and risk assessments. She then moved to London, where she worked as an Operational Manager in the Youth Offending Team. In this role, Laura chaired risk management panels for young people who presented a high risk of harm, including sexual crimes. Additionally, Laura has experience in the mental health field, having worked at an inpatient psychiatric hospital. She is also currently volunteering as a group co-facilitator for grief workshops for individuals who have experienced loss, through a local hospice in Leeds.

Forensic Psychologist
Dr Jennifer Allotey
Jennifer has been a long-time friend of Safer Lives, working recently as a practitioner for us. She has now taken up a role as Assistant Professor in Forensic Psychology at the University of Nottingham. However, she continues to provide case-specific consultancy to help us work effectively with our more complex clients. Jennifer is a registered Forensic Psychologist and also an experienced children’s Social Worker, with significant experience of undertaking assessments and therapeutic interventions in the community, secure children’s homes and custodial settings. Her experience includes many years working in the public and voluntary sectors. She works with people who have engaged with a range of harmful and offending behaviours, and has a strong sector-wide reputation for her specialism in working with children and young people who have sexually offended. Through her academic work, Jennifer provides Safer Lives with the opportunity to develop our research interests into desistance from sexual offending.

Lucy has worked for Safer Lives since 2021. She manages the smooth running of the office and helps to spread the word about our services. She manages the smooth running of the agency and is skilled in ensuring people are aware of the services we provide. Lucy has long chosen to work in the caring sector as this suits her compassionate nature.
